Following its announcement at Galaxy Unpacked on February 25, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is now available worldwide as of March 11. While the device maintains the familiar 6.9-inch silhouette of its predecessor, it introduces several key material and internal shifts that define the next generation of Galaxy AI smartphones.
In a surprising move, Samsung has transitioned from the titanium frame used in the S24 and S25 Ultra models back to a high-strength “Armour-Grade” Aluminum. This change has allowed the S26 Ultra to be both thinner (7.9 mm) and lighter (214g) while maintaining structural integrity. The back features a revised “Ambient Camera” design, with sensors aligned vertically in a more cohesive island.
The headline feature: privacy display
The standout innovation this year is the Privacy Display (Flex Magic Pixel). This technology allows users to narrow the screen’s viewing angle via software. When enabled, content remains crystal clear for the person directly in front of the phone, but appears dark to anyone looking from the side—eliminating the need for physical privacy screen protectors.
Camera overhaul
The quad-camera system receives its most significant update in years, focused on light intake and low-light performance:
Main Sensor: 200 MP with a wider f/1.4 aperture (capturing 47% more light than the S25 Ultra).
Periscope Telephoto (5x): 50 MP with a wider f/2.9 aperture using the new ALoP (All Lens on Prism) mechanism.
Ultra-Wide: 50 MP sensor for improved macro and panoramic shots.
Telephoto (3x): 10 MP sensor for classic portraits.
Video: New 360-degree Horizontal Lock ensures perfectly level footage even during intense movement.
Performance and battery
Under the hood, the S26 Ultra is powered exclusively by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy worldwide.
Charging: Upgraded to 60W wired charging (reaching 0 to 75% in 30 minutes) and 25W Qi2-ready wireless charging.
Memory: Options include 12GB of RAM (256/512GB models) and 16GB of RAM (1TB model).
Pricing and availability
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is available in four standard colors: Black, White, Sky Blue, and Cobalt Violet, with exclusive Silver Shadow and Pink Gold options on Samsung.com.
