The iPhone 17e arrives as the successor to the iPhone 16e, focusing on delivering modern technology at a more accessible price point. While maintaining a familiar design, the device offers significant upgrades in performance, connectivity, and base storage.
256 GB: $599 (Double the previous base storage for the same starting price)
512 GB: $799
By phasing out the 128 GB version, the iPhone 17e is effectively $100 cheaper than the equivalent model from the previous generation.
Performance with the A19 Chip
The new model is powered by the A19 chip (the same used in the standard iPhone 17 series, though with a 4-core GPU instead of 5). According to Apple, graphics performance is roughly 30% faster than the A18 chip, ensuring smoother gameplay and better AI tasks via the 16-core Neural Engine.
Connectivity and MagSafe
A major highlight is the introduction of Apple’s proprietary C1X modem. This 5G chip is twice as fast as its predecessor while consuming 30% less energy. Additionally, the iPhone 17e finally supports MagSafe (up to 15W), enabling the use of magnetic accessories and faster wireless charging.
Design and Durability
The design retains the 6.1-inch OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate and the traditional notch. However, durability has been boosted with Ceramic Shield 2, which provides three times better scratch resistance. Alongside black and white, Apple has introduced a new Soft Pink color option.
